Request to be a Promoter
for 2026

Becoming a Promoter:

Sport Karate West has established a set of requirements for new promoters who are interested in holding a future event and be sanctioned through SKW.  We encourage the addition of new tournaments and if your're up for it, read  on......

There is a process for any potential promoter outlined below that will need to be followed in order to insure the integrity of SKW and the competitor's tournament experience.  Previous tournament promotion is a benefit, however, it is not a requirement.

The first step in applying for promoting an event and adding it to the SKW tournament schedule is submitting a letter of intent.

It should include:

  • Name of Promoter(s)

  • Name of Event

  • Logo for Event

  • Written explanation or pictures of competitor and Grand Champion awards

A face to face interview may be requested prior to any approval or denial of a request.

Requests must be submitted no later than August 1st of each calendar year.  SKW will provide a written notice by November 1st of that same year, with an approval or denial of the request.  SKW will issue all decisions in writing and will keep all requests, on file for future reference for a period of two (2) years.  Applicants who are denied may re-apply on an annual basis.

Once an individual or group is approved, the process of working with the Board of Directors and other Promoters begins.  The individual or group will be required to attend Promoter meetings and eight (8) SKW tournaments to assist and familiarize themselves with all aspects of running a SKW tournament including with other SKW committees involved in tournament promotion.  Once these requirements are met, the applicant will complete an "Application to Promote a SKW Tournament" which must be signed off on by the Promoter's Committee first, before it can be presented to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will take the application under consideration and may call the Promoter's Committee and the applicant to attend a board meeting before final approval is rendered.
